Dos Palmeras Menorca

Named after the two large palm trees   that grace the front of the house,  Dos Palmeras is situated on the sought after Cala Llonga urbanisation on the east side of the harbour,  overlooking Mahon.  We have our own

gardeners and maintenance people who look after the area,  keeping it beautiful and cared for.  Our villa overlooks the entrance to the harbour.  From the terrace you can observe craft of all shapes and sizes visiting Mahon.  The biggest cruise ships in the world have tied up in Mahon here over the years. It's reputed to be the second largest natural harbour in the world.  Menorca is an ideal place for family holidays. There are more beaches in Menorca than all the Balearic islands combined.  The sea around the island is crystal clear.

View from the terrace

Dos Palmeras is a pretty,  traditional Menorcan house and is reached by a few steps up from the road.  Unlike many of the houses in the area it is built on flat land.

The house has four double bedrooms,  two of which are ensuite.  Two of the downstairs bedrooms have double doors that open up onto the front terrace and pool.  The light and airy sitting room connects to the dining area and kitchen making it ideal for family gatherings.  Outside, the gardens front and back are stocked with tropical plants and flowers which are regularly tended to.

Cala Llonga is a ten minute drive from Mahon and the larger supermarkets,  however in 2006 we were delighted when a medium sized supermarket opened on the urbanisation.  It's two minutes drive away or a brisk walk.

Due to the central position of the island in the mediterranean it has always been of strategic importance to naval powers such as Britain and France.  In fact the island was occupied by both at different times during the 18th century.  This occupation has had its influence and the architecture and culture bears witness to this.  Close to the house we have La Mola, a fort built by the British and one of the biggest  attractions on the island. Recently an episode  of Hornblower was filmed there.

  La Mola                                    Mesquida Beach

Within ten minutes of the villa is Mesquida beach.  This is very much favoured by the locals and is certainly a favourite of ours.  It's never too busy,  easy to get to and very beautiful.  It's also good for children.  Mesquida is a  small Menorcan village that has a lot of charm and boasts one of the best fish restaurants on the island, Cap Roig, situated high up on the cliffs with stunning views of Mesquida bay.
